Ubisoft has announced that its action-adventure game Assassin's Creed II sold "nearly 9 million units" during its first few months on the market.

Ubisoft has blamed the recent economic downturn for falling sales and profits, following the release of the company's 2009 fiscal results. As reported by Gamasutra, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said in a statement, "The global economic crisis had a pronounced impact on the video game industry in 2009 -- Ubisoft's sales were hit particularly hard, falling 18 percent over the full year."

Blizzard Entertainment has announced that tickets for its fifth BlizzCon gaming convention are to go on sale in two separate batches on Wednesday June 2nd (7 p.m. PT) and Saturday June 5th (10 p.m. PT) The event itself is to take place October 22nd and 23rd at the Anaheim Convention Center, Anaheim Califonia.
